Mayoral Proclamations for 2017 Chefs Hall of Fame

CHICAGO MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL HONORS 2017 CHEFS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES WITH MAYORAL PROCLAMATIONS

Chef Fabio Viviani, Chef Sébastien Canonne, Chef Pierre Pollin, Jim Kallas, and Charlie Mok Each Given a Day of Honor in Chicago

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed February 27, 2017, to be “Charlie Mok Day in Chicago”; March 1, 2017, to be “Jim Kallas Day in Chicago”; March 3, 2017, to be “Chef Pierre Pollin Day in Chicago”; March 6, 2017, to be “Chef Sébastien Canonne Day in Chicago”; and March 8, 2017, to be “Chef Fabio Viviani Day in Chicago”; leading up to their inductions into the Chicago Culinary Museum’s Chefs Hall of Fame.

All five culinary innovators will be formally inducted at an event open to the public on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at The Crystal Gardens in Navy Pier located at 700 E. Grand in Chicago from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This event will not only honor the inductees it will also promote and celebrate Chicago’s culinary preeminence and raise funds for the Chicago Culinary Museum and scholarships for student chefs. The evening will feature an open bar, wandering feast from top local restaurants including Bar Siena, Mad Social, Riva, Bittersweet, Heaven on Seven, La Scarola and many more, plus a silent auction, raffle, and awards presentation. Previous inductees into the Chefs Hall of Fame include the late Chef Charlie Trotter in 2006, Chef Jimmy Bannos in 2007, Chef Rick Bayless in 2008, Chef Carrie Nahabedian in 2009, Chef Art Smith in 2010, Chef Priscilla Satkoff in 2011, Chef Graham Elliot with Chef Jacquy Pfeiffer in 2012, Chef Paul Kahan, Chef Alain Roby, Richard Melman, Chef Hans Aeschbacher, the late Chef Jean Banchet, and the late Chef Louis Szathmary in 2013, Chef Stephanie Izard, Chef Gale Gand, Chef Michael Kornick, Phil Stefani, and Larry Levy in 2014, and Chef Tony Mantuano, Chef Judy Contino, Chef J. Joho, Georges “Kiki” Cuisance, Steve Lombardo and Hugo Ralli in 2015.

A 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 2006 by Chef John Kaufmann and the late Chef John Castro in conjunction with the Chicago Chefs of Cuisine Association, Inc., the Chicago Culinary Museum and Chefs Hall of Fame was created to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Chicago chefs, food manufacturers, restaurateurs, and hoteliers, while promoting and celebrating Chicago as a culinary mecca.
