Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and Marcus Samuelsson Group announce the opening of the resort’s newest beachfront airstream food truck, Streetbird on the Beach. Concepted by acclaimed Harlem-based chef Marcus Samuelsson, Streetbird on the Beach melds American comfort food favorites with celebrated island flavors that feature a uniquely Bahamian twist. As the latest addition to the resort’s robust food and beverage program, Streetbird on the Beach joins Baha Mar’s more than 40 globally inspired restaurants and bars, which include experiential pan-Asian eateries, ornate cocktail lounges and Parisian-inspired cafés.
A James Beard award-winning chef, New York Times best-selling author and frequent judge on Food Network’s Chopped, Samuelsson has established more than 30 restaurant locations throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Similar to Streetbird Rotisserie, Samuelsson’ former casual chicken joint in New York City, Streetbird on the Beach emerges as a reinvention of the concept, showcasing chicken’s versatility accompanied by classic Bahamian ingredients like conch, rum and plantains.
“Streetbird on the Beach is an ode to the bird and the destination; a twist on a beloved American staple with island-inspired flavors,” said Samuelsson. “Our menu combines the taste of Harlem street culture with the vibrant energy that permeates The Bahamas.”
Situated near the resort’s existing beachfront airstreams, El Jefe, Sandy Dog and Sliderrzz, Streetbird on the Beach will serve a crispy chicken sandwich with hot pepper mayonnaise, cheddar and pickles; escovitch chicken and plantain waffles; M’s hot chicken with white bread and pickles; calypso fritters with conch & salt cod; jerk sticky wings with Bahamian rum caramel; and more.
“With Samuelsson’s team working alongside the resort’s talented Bahamian chefs, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar guests will experience reimagined takes on signature Marcus Samuelsson favorites,” said Ulrich Samietz, general manager, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar.
Streetbird on the Beach is open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Prices range from $6 to $17.
