The Grill, Designed by //3877, brings Miami to D.C.’s District

The latest District Wharf project from D.C. design and architecture firm //3877–The Grill–brings sophisticated Miami influences for a moody, yet airy, upscale eatery experience.

With riverfront views, the 5,400-square-foot restaurant destination is the second concept from //3877, KNEAD Hospitality + Design, and Chef Roberto Santibañez, following the opening of Mi Vida, a contemporary Mexican restaurant, in 2018.

//3877’s polished, mid-century modern design has South Florida vibes–a nod to the KNEAD partners’ years living in Miami–like plush leather banquettes, poured terrazzo flooring, and rose gold accents.Soft colors such as the pale pink on the ceiling combined with bleached oak, handmade tiles, and copper accents define the lightness of the overall space and balance with darker walnut paneling to provide some drama to the subtle color story.

//3877 emphasized the height of the space through a thoughtful lighting program, taking full advantage of the double height ceilings to enhance the dramatic views of the Potomac River. The cove lighting, accented with a rose gold paint, creates a shimmery, candescent effect, reminiscent of the waters and sunset found surrounding Miami.
