Chilean Consulate Rallies CT, NY and NJ Communities to Support Rebuilding of Valparaíso ChileA raging forest fire descended on the city of Valparaíso, one of the oldest cities in Chile, April 12 and 13 damaging more than 2,900 homes.  Wines of Chile USA and Kingston Vineyards joined the Chilean Consulate to raise funds via the Teletón Chile USA Foundation to support rebuilding efforts.

“We’re proud that our members have rallied to support the timely Teletón Chile events. Specific dates and locations can be found here,” said Marybeth Bentwood of Wines of Chile.  According to Courtney Kingston of Kingston Family Vineyards, which is located in the Casablanca Valley very near the city of Valparaíso  “We are honored to support Foundation Teletón Chile and the great people of Valparaíso. Our family has been in Chile for five generations and a number of family members were born in this wonderful city.”

Spearheading the campaign, Chilean Consul General Julio Fiol added, “Valparaíso is Chile’s cultural capital and its historic district has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The loss that it has sustained is unimaginable and we’re committed to helping support it’s rebuilding.”
