Metro Pizza Co-Founder and Co-Owner Sam Facchini Named National Restaurant Association’s 2014 Convention ChairThe National Restaurant Association has selected Sam Facchini, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Metro Pizza, to serve as its Convention Chair for the 2014 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show and the 2014 International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event. In this capacity, Facchini will advise the Association as it steers the restaurant and foodservice industry’s largest and most comprehensive annual event to meet the needs of this robust and dynamic industry. The 2014 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show will be held May 17-20 at Chicago’s McCormick Place and the International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event will take place May 18-19 in the Lakeside Ballroom at McCormick Place.

Facchini has, in his own words “owned pizza restaurants for roughly a third of a century”. He co-founded Metro Pizza in 1980. His operation is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and has enjoyed multiple accolades including being named to the “Best of Las Vegas” list 20 times; being named “Best Pizza in Nevada” by USA Today in 2010 and Food Network in 2011; and being selected as a “Hot 100” Independent U.S. Pizzeria each year from 1998 – 2013.

Sam Facchini has been a member of the NRA Board of Directors since 2005 and has served on the Convention Committee since early in his tenure. He was named Nevada Restaurateur of the Year in 1999 and he served on the Nevada Restaurant Association’s Board of Directors from 1993 – 2010 (reaching Director Emeritus status in 2010).

The annual National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show is the largest annual gathering of restaurant, foodservice, and lodging professionals in the world.
