Factory Place Hospitality Group Brings Northern Italian Tradition to LA

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 19th, 2016) — Officine BRERA, the vision of restaurateurs Matteo Ferdinandi, Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi and Chef Angelo Auriana, transports diners to the Italian countryside with its official opening in Downtown Los Angeles on February 5th, 2016. Set in L.A.’s trendsetting Arts District, Officine BRERA is a historically inspired, contemporary workshop built to observe the craft of authentic Italian cuisine. Under the direction of Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, Officine BRERA offers dinner, with lunch service to come, serving customary Northern Italian dishes. “Angelo and I are very fond of  local, traditional Italian recipes and we take pride in respecting the heritage of our Italian roots by creating a menu that features dishes we remember from our days growing up in Northern Italy,” says Matteo Ferdinandi, CEO of FactoryPlaceHospitalityGroup. “Our goal is to portray the simplicity and authenticity of those recipes passed on by generations and of course, to share them with the downtown community and beyond.”

Housed in a 1920’s warehouse, Officine BRERA’s interior is the vision of Fer Studio’s Christopher Mercier, Matteo Ferdinandi, Angelo Auriana and their partner, developer Howard Klein. Drawing inspiration from the Brera district of Milan, Italy, the 110+ seat restaurant features both contemporary and industrial elements with brick walls, hot rolled steel dining tables, reclaimed wood flooring, exposed steel beams, concrete and Ann Sacks tiles. Different shades of soft, brown leather chairs and dark wooden tables give the restaurant a dominating and masculine feel. The main focal point of the restaurant is the exhibition kitchen. Set behind 35 feet of spine glass that features a “line of fire,” guests can watch the wood burning grill, wood burning oven and wood burning rotisserie while dining. The main dining room features custom built-in furniture designed by Bkon Industries and additional custom furniture by Jacinto Hospitality.

Off of the main dining room sit two smaller rooms that can transform with ease into private dining spaces hidden behind bi-fold doors. Both rooms accommodate 18 guests and 36 guests combined with round or rectangular table configurations. Both private dining spaces are equipped with AV equipment for business presentations as well. Officine ALIMENTARI at BRERA, situated in the front of the building, is a unique event space that accommodates up to 100 guests and will be available for bookings on March 1st, 2016. The restaurant is also complete with two outdoor patios, one covered by a corten steel canopy and the other featuring a romantic outdoor fire pit.

Officine BRERA’s menu is inspired by classic recipes of cucina povera, the countryside along the River Po’ Valley in Northern Italy where both Chef Angelo Auriana and Matteo Ferdinandi grew up. Officine BRERA pays homage to the region by offering guests a menu that includes tartare, rotisserie fowl and poultry, slow braised hunter style meats, grilled meats, risotto, dry and baked pastas, grilled and oven roasted fish, market-driven vegetables and a separate bar menu. A complete menu will not be released publicly at this time.

Additionally, Officine BRERA serves a large selection of wines from Italy, with wine pairings by Sommelier Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi. The restaurant offers a craft beer list as well along with handcrafted cocktails from Bartender/Mixologist Luigi Capasso. In addition to the by the bottle or glass offerings, Officine BRERA allows guests to bring in bottles of wine from their own collection for a $20 corkage fee for the first two bottles and $35 for every bottle thereafter.

Officine BRERA is located at 1331 E. 6th Street in Downtown Los Angeles’ Arts District, and is open for dinner Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
