Plan Check Kitchen and Bar Opens in LA’s Little Osaka Neighborhood

– Chef/Partner Ernesto Uchimura along with barmen Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix bring modern American cuisine and cocktails menu to Sawtelle this February –

New restaurant and bar Plan Check will open doors February 22nd 2012 at 1800 Sawtelle Boulevard in West LA’s Little Osaka neighborhood. Drawing inspiration from design and architectural elements, Plan Check will feature modern American comfort food and a distinct bar selection, paying homage to the neighborhood’s culture.

Adjacent to the Building and Safety Department, where hundreds of architects, developers, designers and engineers have plans reviewed and approved daily for permitting, Plan Check embodies a polished, industrial motif. Effortlessly blending vintage architectural office elements with raw design, rich materials and a warm atmosphere, PlanCheck encourages a communal experience.

Backed by the culinary esteem of Chef Ernesto Uchimura, most recently serving as Corporate Executive Chef and having launched Umami Burger, Plan Check will offer creatively flavored fare prepared with carefully sourced ingredients. Dishes such as gourmet burgers, smoky fried chicken and short rib pot roast will price around $11 to $17.

Leading the outstanding bar program are Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix, bartending masterminds behindHarvard & Stone, La Descarga and Black Market Liquor Bar. The drink menu will focus heavily on craft beers, signature cocktails and as a nod to the neighborhood, the finest Japanese whiskeys.

“Plan Check is a neighborhood restaurant and bar with a unique design and gracious hospitality,” says owner Terry Heller, “It’s an ideal place for local residents and people from nearby offices as well as a destination for those visiting LA to gather for conversation, quality drinks and great food.”

In addition to prime bar seating—granting patrons a front row experience of Uchimura firing up orders in the exhibition kitchen—Plan Check houses communal tables, booths and a large outdoor patio with a capacity of approximately 110 people. The eatery’s social element is highly revered and geared towards community bonding.

Plan Check will be open from 11:00am – 12:00am Sunday through Thursday and will stay open until 2:00am Friday and Saturday. The “Little Osaka” neighborhood, often called simply “Sawtelle,” is located in close proximity to UCLA, Brentwood, Santa Monica, and Culver City, and is conveniently accessible from the nearby 405Freeway.
