Recipe: Celebrating Cape Town Being Named World Cocktail Capital

Chef Lizzie Binder’s play on classic iced tea (South African style) is perfect to enjoy not only in honor of this special occasion, but for year-round indulging.  The iced tea makes four generous portions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart strong Rooibos tea, cooled
  • 4 – 6 oz. shots brandy (depending on the time of day)
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 4 peaches, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • large handful fresh mint leaves

Method:

In large pitcher, add peaches, lemon and mint and muddle. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Serve poured over ice.

The event, touted as one of the most prestigious mixology events in the world, is taking place from August 31 to September 4 in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
