RON MATUSALEM CELEBRATES 150th ANNIVERSARY BY GIVING BACK

To mark its 150th anniversary this year, Ron Matusalem Rum, born in Cuba, now raised in the Dominican Republic, and enjoyed all over the world, is giving back to the community. The storied brand has developed a partnership with charities Feeding Tampa Bay and Feeding South Florida to support their efforts to combat hunger by donating $1 or each bottle sold. In addition, Matusalem will also help provide for nearly 1 million food-insecure families by donating nine meals per bottle for every purchase to each non-profit organization from May to December 2022.

Ron Matusalem was founded in 1872 in Santiago de Cuba by three partners, brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camps, and Evaristo Alvarez. The brand grew to be Cuba’s most popular rum during the nation’s Golden Age when celebrities and notables frequented the island. As the Cuban Revolution began, the company had to flee the island, taking with them their original recipe and rebuilding in the Dominican Republic.

To further honor Matusalem’s Cuban heritage and celebrate the 150th Anniversary, the brand will participate in the 11th Annual Ford Cuban Sandwich Food & Art Festival in Tampa, FL on XX date. The festival is free for the community and features Cuban Sandwich contestants and vendors from all over the world, live entertainment and more. Ron Matusalem will have a presence throughout the festival and offer tastings in the VIP area. A hallmark of the event is the creation of an oversized Cuban Sandwich; at a recent event, participants created a 255-foot Cuban Sandwich that was donated to homeless shelters feeding more than 500 people.
