STANDARD SERVICE RESTAURANT & TAPROOM IS NOW OPEN IN DOWNTOWN GAINESVILLE

Standard Service Restaurant & Taproom is now open for lunch and dinner in downtown Gainesville, Georgia. From Atlanta Restaurateur Billy Streck of Hampton + Hudson, Nina & Rafi, Lyla Lila and Pielands and Ramon Ballester and Jon Kim of Pour Taproom, the restaurant is located at 400 Jesse Jewell Parkway in a building that originally served as a gas station and offers a self-serve taproom with beer and wine, plus a full bar and simple, good food.

Serving neighborhood pub dishes made with good ingredients, Standard Service focuses on approachable offerings and twists on classics, with something for everyone. The menu (here) includes snacks and apps to share, salads, sandwiches, entrees and sides. Standouts include New Orleans BBQ Shrimp – spicy blackened shrimp with seasoned beer butter & garlic crostini, Steak Frites – grilled & sliced Kansas City strip, fries, caramel shallot & dijon cream sauce, Seared Citrus Salmon with corn & butter bean succotash & lime butter sauce, and Pimento Mac & Cheese.

Michelle Boyd (also of Hampton + Hudson) oversees the bar program, and Ramon and Jon of Pour Taproom head up the extensive beer program. The beverage menu features 40 local beers and 10 approachable wines in a self-serve taproom, plus wine by the glass, draft pints and a full bar offering a variety of fun, playful cocktails in the dining room.

“Gainesville is one of my favorite towns, and we couldn’t be more excited to open Standard Service in such a great community,” said Billy Streck. “We can’t wait to get to know our neighbors and welcome them in for good beer, food and fun.”

“We look at beer as a way to bring the community together, tell stories and share experiences,” said Ramon Ballester and Jon Kim, Co-owners of Pour Taproom. “There is such a great variety of craft beer these days that the only way to know what you like best is to taste. We’re grateful to be part of such a unique project and look forward to bringing a new twist to craft beer for all our Gainesville neighbors to enjoy.”

Standard Service features an expansive patio and large garage doors that can be raised for an indoor/outdoor dining experience. A taproom in the downstairs area features 50 self-serve taps offering beer and wine, TVs for sports-watching and an expansive patio, all accessible via an entrance at the back of the building. In the taproom, guests can check in with their ID and credit/debit card. Once a tab is set up, it is linked to a wristband, allowing guests to unlock a tap and pour as little or as much (up to a pint) as desired, charging only for what’s poured. There are safeguards in place so the tap wall can be enjoyed responsibly. When done, guests drop off their wristband, verify their tab and check out.
