Sullivan County Community College Students Get Real-life Advertising Experience With Roscoe Beer Co

Roscoe Beer Co. Creates Project for Advertising Class

Sullivan County Community College Students Get Real-life Advertising Experience With Roscoe Beer CoContinuing to follow their mission to embrace and add value to the community, Roscoe Beer Co. created a real-life project for advertising students at Sullivan County Community College, which will focus on the development of a print advertising campaign to promote beer sales to the consumer. Working with their agency, KKPR Marketing & Public Relations, Inc., the craft beer company visited Professor Ron Bernthal’s Principles of Advertising class on Monday, November 11th to talk about the beer company and introduce the project.

“We are really excited about the collaboration with the college,” said Tera “Dixie” Luty, Beer Manager for Roscoe Beer Co. “It was a truly different experience explaining the product to the students and giving them a real project to work on, especially compared to explaining the product and the company to resellers. We have a fun product, so hopefully the students really enjoy this hands-on project.”

The computer students in Professor Cynthia Marcello’s Simulation & Game Development Programming I class will be assisting the students in Bernthal’s advertising class to help create the advertisements. The class has formed creative teams and will submit a selection of print ads, and other marketing ideas, to Roscoe Beer Co. and KKPR Marketing & Public Relations, Inc., the beer company’s agency. The winning team members will receive an award, and possibly have an opportunity to work on a real campaign for the company.

“The advertising students are looking forward to “pitching” Roscoe Beer Co., and participating in a real-life scenario as they compete with other students for the account,” said Bernthal. “After spending many weeks reading their textbooks and articles from Advertising Age, they can take theory and put it into practice. The best part is that they will become familiar with a new company in the region, and have a desire to follow the company’s success in the years ahead.”

Created by a small group of folks with a passion for craft beer and a deep-rooted love for their hometown of Roscoe, NY, Roscoe Beer Co. launched its flagship brew, Trout Town American Amber Ale in April 2013.

True to its name, the ale pours a deep amber color, with a clean nose, balanced hops and malt, and ends with a light citrus finish. As a nod to tradition, this style of beer was typically brewed around New York State during the early 1900’s. Roscoe Beer Co.’s initiative is to remain true to American beer-making traditions which have evolved from their early European ancestors.

Recently, the sprouting craft beer company launched an online store for their merchandise, and have expanded their distribution throughout New York State.
