The Gods were smiling Wednesday night as The Golden Tiki, Las Vegas’ new Polynesian tiki bar and gaming lounge in Chinatown, celebrated its official grand opening with an evening of festivities. Entertainment by the legendary King Kukulele and The Golden Tiki house DJ Rex Dart filled the air with the sounds of the tropics while hula dancers passed out leis and performed traditional (and not-so-traditional) dances blessing the new establishment. Guests donned tropical print attire, pirate hats and kukui nut necklaces while enjoying signature tiki cocktails and Dole Whip samples. Joining the celebration were notable locals Monti Rock III, Chippendale Ryan Stuart and Dirk Vermin from A&E’s “Bad Ink.”

The Clark County Commissioner’s office issued a proclamation welcoming the establishment and Managing Partner Branden Powers thanked the crowd for coming before cutting into a four-tier volcano cake complete with dry ice created by Showboy Bakeshop. Other diversions included Ms. Redd the mermaid snapping “shellfies” with guests, a live tiki carving by noted tiki artist Billy the Crud, the Son of Lord Baltimore greeting guests and leading tours, and The Golden Tiki’s resident animatronic skeleton Captain William Tobias Faulkner telling his shipwreck tale of woe to all who would listen.
