Vintner Cheryl Indelicato Announces Winners Of Handcraft Heroes Breast Cancer Campaign

Vintner Cheryl Indelicato Announces Winners Of Handcraft Heroes Breast Cancer CampaignIn honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cheryl Indelicato, third-generation California vintner and proprietor of HandCraft Artisan Collection Wines, today announced the winners of the inaugural HandCraft Heroes Breast Cancer Campaign. Inspired by Indelicato’s personal involvement in the fight against breast cancer for over twenty years as a registered nurse, HandCraft Heroes was created to honor those individuals whose actions inspire others to seek early detection for breast cancer or support patients undergoing treatment.

“HandCraft Heroes Breast Cancer Campaign received nominations from ordinary people doing extraordinary things across the country and I want to thank everyone who took the time to share their stories,” said Indelicato. “You inspire me. Your passion, commitment and actions to help end breast cancer in our lifetime encourage and remind us of what is possible.” Winners of the first annual Handcraft Heroes Breast Cancer Campaign were chosen by an independent panel of judges chaired by Dr. Sheri Phillips Prentiss, MD, National Spokesperson Susan G. Komen 3-Day. Judging criteria was equally weighted between the creativity of the candidate’s initiative, the level to which their story inspired others and the perceived impact of the monetary donation award on the breast cancer community.

The following individuals were selected as the 2013 HandCraft Heroes:
Stacy Cumberbatch (San Francisco, CA) – This year, Stacy initiated the inaugural “Pink Gown” Fashion for a Cause event with proceeds benefiting Bay Area-based Friend to Friend and Pink Pearl cancer fighting organizations.

Diane Lyons (New Orleans, LA) – As founder of Festi-gals and Bodacious Bras for a Cause art fundraising event in New Orleans, Diane has earned national attention with her creative programs that ignite passionate support of both men and women.

Melanie Young (New York, NY) – Chief Connector and Creative Strategist at The Connected Table, a New York-based public relations and events business, Melanie is a speaker and author of Melanie Young – Getting Things Off My Chest: A Survivor’s Guide to Staying Fearless and Fabulous in the Face of Breast Cancer, which provides tips for women on how to manage their diagnosis and stay focused and in charge of their health.

The HandCraft Heroes will be honored at a private inspirational retreat hosted by Dr. Sheri and Indelicato in Monterey, California in February 2014. A cash award of $2000 will also be donated to each winner’s “pink” charity of choice.
