Director Gore Verbinski’s New Film Launches With a Culinary Twist

Director Gore Verbinski invites audiences into a unique cinematic experience with his new film Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. To celebrate the movie’s release, Verbinski took a special guest shift at NORMS on La Cienega on February 10, where he served up more than just food—he served community spirit. For every meal sold during his hour-long shift, 20% of sales were donated to No Kid Hungry, an organization dedicated to ending child hunger in America.

NORMS holds a special place in Verbinski’s heart. It was here that he frequented during his film school days at UCLA, and it also served as the inspiration for writer Matthew Robinson, who conceived the film’s narrative while dining there. It’s fascinating how a simple diner can become a pivotal part of an artistic journey. Notably, NORMS is featured in both the opening and closing sequences of the film, adding a layer of authenticity and nostalgia.

Recreating the NORMS Experience

During production, the team even went as far as to recreate the iconic La Cienega location while shooting in South Africa. This dedication to authenticity showcases Verbinski’s commitment to not just telling a story, but to immersing viewers in the world he has created.

Limited-Time Offerings Inspired by the Film

In celebration of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, NORMS has launched two limited-time menu items that pay homage to key food moments in the film. Available until February 28, these items are a delicious way for fans to engage with the film:

  • Stack of Snoball Hotcakes: Three of NORMS’ famous hotcakes topped with sliced strawberries, cheesecake batter, a Hostess Snoball, chocolate drizzle, and a signature knife garnish ($9.99).
  • Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die Milkshake: A rich chocolate shake blended with half a Hostess Snoball and finished with whipped cream and the other half on top ($6.29).
  • Hostess Snoball Toppers: Available for $4.99, these can be enjoyed on their own or added to any menu item.

Giving Back to the Community

As part of the film’s launch and its commitment to social responsibility, those who have lost their jobs to AI will be offered free tickets to see the movie in theaters, courtesy of Briarcliff Entertainment. This initiative not only highlights the film’s narrative but also extends support to individuals in need during these challenging times.

On February 17, NORMS is celebrating National Pancake Day with a charitable twist. For one day only, $1 from every Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die Snoball Hotcakes sold will benefit No Kid Hungry. This initiative aligns perfectly with NORMS’ ethos of great food with a purpose.

Revamped Menu Launching Soon

In addition to the limited-time offerings, NORMS is set to launch a revamped core menu on February 25. While many restaurants are trimming down their offerings, NORMS is expanding to cater to diverse tastes.

  • Hand-Cut Steaks: Prepared in-house daily to ensure freshness.
  • Made-from-Scratch Burgers: Using freshly ground beef that’s never frozen.
  • Chocolate Chip Waffle and Chicken & Waffles: Don’t miss out on these fan favorites before they’re gone!

With the launch of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die and the exciting initiatives at NORMS, there’s no better time for food, film, and community to come together. Whether you’re a fan of Verbinski’s work or just looking for a delicious meal with a purpose, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.
