For the topping: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Whisk together flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined.For the filling: In a separate bowl, combine berries, 1/4 cup sugar, and lemon juice. Pour into a greased 8×8 inch baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the berries. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
