When more than 1,000 bartenders, drinks executives and international media descend on a single resort for a red-carpet awards night, it's not just a party — it's a signal about where hospitality gravity is shifting. And for the second year running, that gravity landed in Macao.
Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace served as Official Host Partner of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, bringing the region's most influential bar-industry event back to the city and, once again, placing Macao squarely at the center of Asia's cocktail conversation. The awards ceremony took place at Wynn Palace on July 28, gathering leading bartenders, drinks professionals and media from across the region to celebrate the people, places and ideas shaping contemporary bar culture.
A Milestone Year for Wynn in Macao
Building on the event's Macao debut in 2025, this year's edition carried added weight: Wynn is marking 20 years in the city. Hosting Asia's leading bar event reinforces both properties as premier destinations for major international culinary and beverage programming — and strengthens Macao's standing as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
From July 24 to 29, Wynn presented six days of official gatherings, bar takeovers, collaborative dinners and late-night celebrations. Anchoring it all was a special edition of "Wing Lei Bar & Friends," which expanded Wing Lei Bar's established platform into a resort-wide celebration of global cocktail and culinary culture.
Inside the Official Program
The week's core program spanned the Bartenders' Feast, the Meet the Bartenders media roundtable, the live Awards Ceremony and the Closing Brunch.
- Bartenders' Feast (July 27): Held at Gourmet Pavilion — the upscale food hall at Wynn Palace inspired by Asia's street-food culture — where Wing Lei Bar was joined by Shanghai's Pony Up and Goa's Boilermaker for cocktails, live music and interactive experiences.
- Awards Ceremony (July 28): Returning to the Grand Theater of Wynn Palace for the live unveiling of the annual ranking. More than 1,000 guests arrived for a red-carpet welcome and cocktail reception before the countdown revealed the bars and talents defining the region's drinks landscape, followed by a post-ceremony reception.
- Closing Brunch (July 29): A daytime finale at Wynn Macau's seafood restaurant Drunken Fish, overlooking the Performance Lake, uniting Wing Lei Bar with Bangkok's Dry Wave Cocktail Studio and Jakarta's Carrots. Guests received personalized Portuguese tile magnets as a locally inspired keepsake.
"Wing Lei Bar & Friends" Extends the Celebration
Beyond the official events, Wynn's signature restaurants and bars welcomed more than 50 bartenders and chefs from Asia, Europe and North America. The expanded edition of "Wing Lei Bar & Friends" unfolded across guided tastings, guest shifts, collaborative meals and late-night takeovers.
Highlights included the launch of UNITY 2.0, the second chapter of Wing Lei Bar's signature cocktail menu, plus a full slate of guest shifts and takeovers. Signature activations ranged from the "Bartenders' Bartender Takeover," uniting industry veterans recognized by their peers, to "Behind Her Bar," an all-female showcase of contemporary talent. "The Road Less Traveled" spotlighted emerging destinations and distinctive concepts, alongside dedicated showcases celebrating Hong Kong's bar scene, contemporary British mixology and Kuala Lumpur's cocktail culture. The festivities culminated in an after-party at the Palace Reserve Club.
On the culinary side, acclaimed chefs from Chef Tam's Seasons, Lakeview Palace, Drunken Fish, Mizumi and SW Steakhouse collaborated with international talents including the teams from Tokyo's NARISAWA, Sri Lanka's Smoke & Bitters and Mumbai's Masque — underscoring Wynn's ability to convene world-class talent across both dining and drinks.
Why It Matters
For operators and hospitality executives, Wynn's second consecutive turn as host is a case study in how integrated resorts are using major awards platforms to build long-term brand equity — not just fill room nights for one weekend. By wrapping the ceremony in six days of takeovers, collaborative dinners and a proprietary menu launch, Wynn converted a single event into a sustained content and networking engine.
The practical takeaways for beverage and F&B leaders:
- Anchor events to an owned platform. "Wing Lei Bar & Friends" gives Wynn a repeatable format it controls year after year — a smarter play than one-off sponsorships.
- Cross-pollinate drinks and dining. Pairing global bar talent with resident chefs multiplies the programming and the media story.
- Lean into place. Portuguese tile keepsakes and street-food-inspired venues turned Macao's identity into a differentiator, reinforcing the city's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy status.
For destinations competing for high-value culinary tourism, the message is clear: hosting the industry's tastemakers is one of the most efficient ways to signal that your city belongs in the global conversation.
