Bar Louie announces today they will be hosting a blowout bash on December 5th in celebration of the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment, which banned the sale, purchase and consumption of alcohol from 1919 to 1933. This is an especially big year for Repeal Day as it marks the 80th Anniversary of the reinstated right for Americans to enjoy alcohol as a sacred social custom.
Bar Louie’s Prohibition Repeal celebration will be an all-day event at locations across the country. Blake Rohrabaugh, Bar Louie’s Beverage Director, has designed 3 Prohibition era cocktails that will be featured for the day including the French 75, Irish Old Fashioned and Sidecar. “We’re celebrating not only because the “Bar” in Bar Louie wouldn’t exist without it, but it also recognizes the legitimacy of quality distillation, fermentation, and the art of bartending,” says Rohrabaugh.
When guests step foot into the doors on December 5th, they will be taken back in time, as Bar Louie attempts to replicate the epic celebration in 1933. Bar Louie employees will be dressed in 1920s and 1930s attire and upbeat jazz music will fill the airwaves. Guests are encouraged to dress the times or just show up and raise their glasses in the name of a celebratory cocktail.
