Barney’s Beanery Brings Olympic Games Tableside

As the summer games approach, Barney’s Beanery’s five locations plan to engage customers from July 27 through August 12 with all NBC broadcasted coverage of the London 2012 Olympiad by providing tableside excitement and a meal, or special brews at the bar and watching ongoing live coverage via booth-side plasma screens and giant monitors strategically located throughout its diners.

“We learned from the 2008 Games that customers get caught up in the most unusual sports, like women’s weightlifting, synchronized swimming and canoe slalom, and  we are among the very few spots in town that can offer this unique  sports coverage day and night tableside,” said A.J. Sacher, regional manager.  Additionally, the Westwood location on Broxton avenue, once the gateway to the Olympic Village at UCLA, where in 1984 thousands of Olympians slept and practiced, will be offering a special plasma “Leader Board”  posting of competition results from all Olympic venues daily .

Carrying the Torch Libation
Barney’s Beanery will also pay tribute to the final miles of the Olympic Torch Run the preceding week, by offering up special pints of lager  from the country or region that the flame is passing through each day , sparking the commencement of the games in a way that will ignite revelry.

“London Calling” Starts Noon Daily
Given the nine-hour time difference between the United Kingdom and the U.S. that allows evening events to be aired at noon, Barney’s will not only be offering their traditional 700-item mega menu, but will be offering a variety of “Power Medal Lunch Specials” available from 11am- 3pm every day until the closing ceremony on August 12th.

Unique to its five roadhouses is the placement of more than 100 Plasma screens complete with a one-per-booth set-up allowing each party to view whatever they please, which is especially important during the Olympics when people’s preference of events vary so greatly. Additionally, Barney’s will dedicate a flat screen to act as a  leader board  displaying cumulative statistics of medals won by each country, allowing viewers to always be in the know on the latest action of their favorite event.

Barney’s Beanery was rated as #1 sports bar in the region by LA Times Readers’ Choice Poll last year, noting the restaurants’ vast menu, big-screen TVs, trivia, comedy nights, and karaoke.
