Beam Inc., a leading global premium spirits company, today announced that Arthur Aroney will join the organization as Managing Director of Emerging Markets for its Asia Pacific/South America (APSA) region. Aroney will be based in Sydney, Australia, at Beam’s regional headquarters for APSA.

In this newly created role, Aroney will be responsible for driving increased brand and market growth in Beam’s two largest emerging markets; Brazil and India, as well as in Japan and Korea. Brands leading the way for accelerated growth in these emerging markets include Teacher’s Scotch Whiskey, the No. 1 Scotch in India and No. 2 Scotch in Brazil; Jim Beam, the world’s No. 1 selling Bourbon; as well as Beam’s other Power Brands including Sauza Tequila and Courvoisier Cognac.

“India and Brazil are two of Beam’s fastest growing markets, and we’re confident that Arthur’s focus and track record of success will help us further expand our presence and accelerate our performance in these and other key emerging markets,” said Phil Baldock, President of Beam’s Asia Pacific/South America Region.

Most recently, Aroney worked at Staples/Corporate Express Australia as General Manager of Sales and Marketing and COO, leading more than 1,100 employees to deliver sustained growth for the office supplies company. In 2009 as a manager with Lumi Consulting, he provided counsel for Beam, working alongside the company’s global strategy team to help redefine its investment strategy globally.

Prior to this role, Aroney worked as Commercial Director of Sales and Marketing for Maxxium Worldwide, where he spearheaded the negotiation, integration and management of its venture with Coca-Cola Amatil, Beam’s exclusive sales and distribution partner in Australia. He also served in a variety of senior management roles, most notably as Commercial Group Sales Manager for Dairy Farmers, one of Australia’s top fast-moving consumer goods companies.

Aroney holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Sydney and received a graduate certificate of management from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
