Charlotte Patisserie, the beloved Greenpoint bakery-cafè known for its
elegant pastries and old-world European desserts, has opened its first
Manhattan outpost in Chelsea at 78
7th Avenue (corner of 15th St).
Charlotte Patisserie was founded in
Greenpoint over a decade ago, and has since built a devoted following for its
traditional French confections crafted entirely in-house. Helmed by
brother-sister duo Michael Lechowicz (pastry chef) and Magda Stefanske (owner-operator)
and , the new 700-square foot space will bring its intimate, neighborhood charm
to Chelsea.
At the new Manhattan location, guests will
find a rotating selection of cakes in flavors such as Duet (white chocolate,
milk chocolate, hazelnut crunch inside), Black Currant Lemon, Bourbon Chocolate
Pecan, and more. Additional menu staples will include Opera Cake (layers of
almond sponge soaked in coffee syrup with chocolate ganache and coffee
buttercream), seasonal fruit and nut tarts, macarons, truffles, crème brûlée,
salted caramel, and more.
The house signature is pączki, jelly and
cream-filled Polish doughnuts that come in flavors such as rose hip, plum
butter, prune, raspberry, and vanilla bean custard. The bakery will open just
in time for Pączki Day, a Polish-American tradition celebrated on Fat Tuesday, taking place this year on
February 17th.
The bakery will also introduce a café gourmand experience
– a French dessert ritual featuring a curated assortment of mignardises
(bite-sized sweets) served alongside espresso, allowing guests to sample
several petit fours at once.
