Back-to-school season is a battleground for foodservice traffic. Packed calendars, early alarms and dinners squeezed between practice and homework mean families want fast, crave-worthy meals with a reason to choose one drive-thru over another. Culver's is answering with a limited-time lineup engineered for exactly that moment—led by the new Fried Pickle Pub Burger.

Available Aug. 3 through Sept. 27, while supplies last, the burger joins Culver's signature Pub Burger series, backed by two new custard flavors and the return of fan-favorite pumpkin treats. For QSR operators watching the limited-time-offer (LTO) game, it's a tidy case study in how to stack a seasonal menu.

A Wisconsin Supper-Club Twist on a QSR Staple

The Fried Pickle Pub Burger draws straight from Wisconsin's pub and supper-club tradition. It layers fresh, never-frozen beef, real cheddar cheese, crispy fried pickles and a tangy Brewpub Sauce on a soft pretzel bun. Guests can also order Fried Pickles as a side during the same window—an easy add-on that lifts the average check.

Culver's mapped the burger as one entry in a series of Pub Burgers planned for 2026, a deliberate innovation cadence rather than a one-off gimmick.

"A fried pickle on a burger only works if the pickle stays crisp and the brine balances the richness of the beef," said Kasey McDonald, Culver's head of culinary. "We're confident our Fried Pickle Pub Burger will exceed guests' expectations because, like the burgers that came before it in our Pub Burger lineup, it's innovative, crafted and unmistakably Culver's."

Two New Flavors of the Day Extend the Custard Program

The variety continues at the custard counter. Culver's is adding two new Flavors of the Day, both developed through the same research-driven process behind its rotation of more than 30 flavors:

  • Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie — arriving systemwide Wednesday, Aug. 5, layering chocolate Fresh Frozen Custard with gooey brownie pieces, ribbons of REESE'S Peanut Butter and rich fudge.
  • OREO® REESE'S Cheesecake — following Wednesday, Sept. 2, folding crunchy OREO® Cookie Pieces, REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups and cheesecake into Vanilla Fresh Frozen Custard.

Pumpkin Treats Return for Fall

Fall flavors round out the season. The new Pumpkin S'mores Concrete Mixer joins the returning Pumpkin Spice Shake and Salted Caramel Pumpkin Concrete Mixer, each made with real pumpkin spice and Culver's Fresh Frozen Custard, beginning Sept. 8.

Why It Matters

This lineup is a template for how mid-size QSR chains can win the back-to-school window without discounting into a corner. Instead of racing to the bottom on price, Culver's is trading on novelty, regional storytelling and licensed indulgence—the Fried Pickle Pub Burger for craveability, name-brand custard mash-ups (OREO®, REESE'S) for built-in recognition, and pumpkin treats to ride the reliable fall-flavor surge.

For operators and foodservice executives, there are concrete takeaways:

  • Sequence your LTOs. Staggered on-sale dates (Aug. 3, Aug. 5, Sept. 2, Sept. 8) give guests repeat reasons to return across a two-month window—more traffic events from one campaign.
  • Turn a side into a hero. Offering Fried Pickles both on the burger and à la carte drives incremental add-on sales and menu flexibility.
  • Lean on a signature platform. The Pub Burger series and Flavor of the Day program let Culver's innovate within a familiar framework, keeping R&D disciplined and brand-consistent.
  • Borrow equity from partners. Co-branded ingredients cut the marketing lift—guests already know what OREO® and REESE'S taste like.

With over 1,050 family-owned and operated restaurants across 26 states, Culver's has the scale to test what resonates and roll it out fast—useful signal for any operator building a seasonal calendar.

The Takeaway

From a bold new burger to a season of custard firsts, Culver's back-to-school lineup comes down to a simple idea: genuine care, and something new to look forward to, can turn a hectic day into a moment worth savoring. Operators plotting their own Q3 and fall menus should study how the pieces fit together.
