FONSECA, LEADING PORT PRODUCER, ROLLS OUT FIRST-EVER “BIN 27 PORT & COOKIE RUMBLE” CONTEST

Just in time for the baking season, the renowned Port house of Fonseca launches its first “BIN 27 Port & Cookie Rumble.”  Cookie lovers are invited to submit their favorite, original cookie recipe that pairs best with BIN 27 Port, for a chance to win prizes that will entice bakers everywhere.  It’s as simple as uploading the recipe, along with a photo, to the BIN 27 Facebook page:  www.Facebook.com/Fonsecabin27 *

The contest will be judged by famed chocolatier Jacques Torres and award-winning cookbook author Dorie Greenspan, and runs from September 15th through December 31st, 2012.  One Grand Prize winner will be chosen and flown to New York City for private-cooking lessons with Jacques and Dorie.  In addition, the winner will receive two fabulous prizes from contest partner, KitchenAid®:  a Dual Fuel Double Oven Range and their Professional 600 Series 6 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer.  Contestants can also compete for the People’s Choice Prize for a chance to win the KitchenAid® Professional 600 Series 6 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer.

Jacques and Dorie will kick off the contest on Facebook by posting their own cookie recipes they feel pair best with BIN 27.  Jacques has created a Chocolate Chip Macadamia recipe, having been “inspired by the Italian practice of dipping biscotti in wine.  The creaminess of the macadamia, coupled with the flavor of the chocolate, blend beautifully with the palette of BIN 27.  Dip, bite, enjoy!”  Dorie, on the other hand, plays up the sweet/spicy side of BIN 27 with her Port Jammers recipe, noting, “All the flavors that we love with Port, like chocolate, dried fruit and spices are in cookies.  I can’t think of two more versatile playmates – or two that get along better.  Leave the milk to the kids – I’ll take my cookies with Port, please.”

The “BIN 27 Port & Cookie Rumble” will be supported by BIN 27 Port & Cookie Tastings in retail outlets in select markets, as well as promoted via media partners Food 52 and Tasting Table.
