MADRE, Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Newest Neighborhood Eatery, Opens June 7

MADRE, Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Newest Neighborhood Eatery, Opens June 7New York City’s emerging restaurant destination continues to flourish with the opening of MADRE–Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s newest neighborhood eatery–on Friday, June 7th (214 Franklin St.). Helmed by Executive Chef Bryan Noury, MADRE celebrates contemporary cuisine utilizing flavors, foods, and techniques from around the globe in an intimate yet approachable setting. Opening with dinner service Wednesdays — Sundays, the new destination for locals and visitors alike also offers hand-crafted cocktails, a curated wine list, and a wide selection of craft beer.

Encompassing home and hospitality located on the ground floor of Franklin Guesthouse, MADRE is adorned in neutral tones and textiles, with eye-catching elements including exposed brick, marble counters, brass accessories, and mineral-textured walls. The inviting, warm aesthetic of the restaurant is punctuated by natural elements with marble and live wood tables accentuating the thoughtful design and paving the way for an elevated yet approachable ambiance.

MADRE’s chef-driven, cross-cultural menu gives patrons plenty to stay for with a focus on shareable plates. It’s decidedly eclectic, incorporating traditional and contemporary selections to please any palate beginning with mouthwatering starters such as Hamachi Crudo with nasturtiums and green apple, Grilled Octopus with sauce romesco, sweet corn and ramps, and Jamon Croquettes.

From smoky dishes to bountiful bowls of fresh pasta, main courses include Eggplant Agnolotti with heirloom tomatoes and parmesano Reggiano, and Branzino with grapes and fennel. There is also the MADRE’s Burger, a signature creation crafted from 45-day dry aged beef on an English muffin accompanied by steak fat fries, B&B pickles and “H&P” sauce.

An inspired bar program further heightens the MADRE experience, with a variety of creative cocktails fashioned by Head Bartender Jason Kahn–including signature cocktail El Sancho with mezcal, apricot, Campari and habanero–in addition to an impressive craft beer selection served from behind a J-shaped, marble-topped bar. Meanwhile, General Manager/Sommelier Steven Dougherty has assembled a curated wine list of 50-plus labels with domestic offerings from the Finger Lakes region of New York, and international offerings from France and beyond.
