Plugrá® European-Style Butter Presents Stephan Schubert with ACF Pastry Chef of the Year Award

Plugrá® European-Style Butter Presents Stephan Schubert with ACF Pastry Chef of the Year AwardPlugrá® European-Style Butter named Stephan Schubert Pastry Chef of the Year at the 2014 American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Convention on July 30. The annual ACF Convention brought together more than 1,000 chefs, cooks, students, and foodservice professionals from across the nation to Kansas City, Missouri.

Four finalists from each ACF region competed at the national convention after first being nominated by colleagues and then winning their respective regional competition. Competitors had 2 hours, 30 minutes, to prep and serve three items: a cold contemporary plated dessert, a sugar cookie, made with Plugrá European Style Butter, and a showpiece that was at least 2 feet tall, representing the designated theme, The Wizard of Oz. A panel of ACF-approved judges determined the winner. Executive Pasty Chef Stephan Schubert received the title of ACF Pastry Chef of the Year and $5,000 for his completed menu.

“We were truly amazed by the tremendous talent and extreme passion demonstrated by all of the participants; it was absolutely incredible,” stated Sherrie Hay, Plugrá National Specialty Manager. “The ACF Pastry Chef of the Year competition brings together the best-of-the-best to compete at a professional level, and we’re incredibly honored to be able to work alongside the American Culinary Federation and sponsor such a prestigious event.”

During the National Convention, the American Culinary Federation presented Dairy Farmers of America with the 2014 ACF Industry Partnership Award for their continued work and advancement in the culinary industry.
