ProWein Expands WSET Collaboration

ProWein Expands WSET CollaborationPROWEIN EXPANDS COLLABORATION WITH WSET

ProWein, International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits (March 13 – 16, 2016 in Düsseldorf, Germany), is extending its collaboration with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) by becoming a Silver Patron of the world’s largest provider of education programs in the field of wine and spirits. In addition, ProWein will provide two scholarships for international WSET graduates. With this commitment, ProWein is further developing the already existing partnership between the ProWine China trade fair (November 11 – 13, 2015 in Shanghai) and the WSET. This partnership includes an entire series of Master Classes already offered by WSET at ProWine China in Shanghai which will now also be offered at the ProWine Asia trade fair in Singapore (August 12 – 15, 2016) – making WSET a firm fixture in the ProWine Education Program.

“WSET is one of the leading international bodies organizing education courses for wines and spirits. As a Silver Patron of the WSET we build upon our commitment in the field of wine and spirit education and offer the sector new opportunities for further education during the trade fair,” explained Michael Degen, Divisional Director at Messe Düsseldorf and Director of ProWein. Ian Harris, Chief Executive of WSET, also welcomed the development of the collaboration: “I am delighted we have been able to welcome ProWein as the first trade fair into the ever growing circle of WSET corporate patrons. There are many synergies between ProWein in Düsseldorf, ProWine China, ProWine Asia and the WSET – synergies that we plan to use extensively. For us ProWein is the ideal platform to further promote wine and spirit education on an international level.”

ProWein supports WSET Graduates
As part of its commitment as a Silver Patron, ProWein provides a scholarship for two international candidates passing their WSET Diploma examination with excellent results. The focus is on graduates from the U.S., China, Singapore and Great Britain. The scholarship includes a curated visit to ProWein in Düsseldorf to get a “behind the scenes” view and the opportunity to take part in top tasting sessions and events at the trade fair. After ProWein, a study trip to German wine regions is planned.
