Leading Smoothie Concept Aims to Develop 25 New Locations in Market; Executives to Host Local Event for Potential Franchisees Nov. 22
Smoothie King Franchises, Inc., the premier smoothie and nutritional lifestyle center, announced it is targeting Kansas City, Mo., for franchise expansion. The New Orleans-based company plans to develop an additional 25 units in the market over the next five years.
“Since opening our first Kansas City location in 2000, Smoothie King has experienced great success in the market as demand for our nutritional, fresh-blended smoothies and healthy retail products has grown,” said Smoothie King Global CEO Wan Kim. “Our brand is still poised for tremendous growth in the area and we are now seeking qualified franchisees to help us expand our footprint and help meet this demand.”
Smoothie King currently has four locations open in the Kansas City area and two units in development with the next location scheduled to open in 2014.
“We are very proud to be on board during such an exciting time in the company’s history,” said local Smoothie King franchisee Joe Cali, who currently owns one location in Kansas City. “Our first Smoothie King location in the Northland area has been well received by the community and we look forward to opening our second location in the near future.”
To fuel development, the company’s executive team will host a Discovery Day on Nov. 22 in Kansas City to share the benefits of opening a Smoothie King with potential franchisees.
Smoothie King plans to add 1,000 new franchised and corporate locations domestically over the next five years to complement its existing base of more than 650 locations. The brand still has extensive smoothie franchise opportunities available in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, as well as Texas and Oklahoma. Smoothie King also continues to expand internationally through both master franchise and corporate stores in South Korea, Singapore and the Cayman Islands, and is focusing on identifying partners in several key countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Franchisees should possess a passion for the brand and be dedicated to serving the community. While restaurant experience is not required, the ideal candidate for the smoothie franchise should have an entrepreneurial spirit, as well as sales, marketing, restaurant and/or retail experience.
