Southern Season Coming Soon To Richmond

Award winning gourmet grocer slated to open summer 2014 in Libbie Mill

Southern Season Coming Soon To RichmondSouthern Season, the South’s largest specialty gourmet food store, is scheduled to open summer 2014 at Libbie Mill between West Broad Street and Staples Mill Road near Libbie Avenue.

The over 50,000 square foot entertaining emporium offers a full culinary experience in its specialty retail store, full-service restaurant and renowned cooking school – creating a unique culinary experience unlike any in the area where guests can eat, shop, learn and participate in the preparation of culinary food and entertaining activities.

“We are thrilled to bring the Southern Season experience to Richmond and Libbie Mill,” said Dave Herman, president of Southern Season. “Our customers are the foundation of what we do and we are honored to share our knowledgeable service, passionate staff and unparalleled product offerings with the greater Richmond community. Richmond is a city rich with history, community and culinary excellence and we are thrilled we will soon join this strong food community in this great, historic city.”

Southern Season Coming Soon To RichmondSouthern Season is not your average marketplace. It mixes the knowledge and experience of a national grocer with the personal connection and local product integration of a neighborhood market, offering over 80,000 gourmet grocery and cooking items focusing on local commerce with over 10,000 Virginia-based artisan goods and products. Southern Season offers not only depth of local and regional products, but breadth ranging from coffee, wine, bread and cheese to housewares and chocolate. Each section of the retail store offers a vast selection of products with an expert passionate department sales staff.

The cooking school brings national as well as locally-acclaimed and beloved chefs to work directly with customers, and Southern Season’s Share the Food non-profit foundation, a program that fights hunger and poverty, works with local charities to reach the hungry in the local store community.

Richmond’s The Gracious Posse blog recently posted: “Southern Season… just about anything you can imagine, and a lot you never knew you needed, for gracious living and entertainment. When you go, plan on a feast for the stomach and the eyes.”
