Another Season Opens with The Crab Broker

Rob George might not go out and catch Alaska Red King Crab, and the other five species of Alaska Crab, but he’s as close as you can get to the action without stepping on the deck.

800 miles out west in the Aleutian Island chain, is the remote town of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Rob, President of The Crab Broker, has traveled to Dutch Harbor every October for the past nineteen years to spend the Red King Crab season there. He oversees the production and shipping of fresh cooked Red King Crab, charters small aircraft to fly his crab back to Anchorage, and facilitates the transfer to FedEx for overnight delivery to restaurants, upscale retailers and even consumers!

Another Season Opens with The Crab BrokerRob and his wife, Debbie pioneered the marketing and distribution of fresh cooked Alaska Red King Crab in 1994. Over the years The Crab Broker has expanded into all six species of crab harvested, including the Jonah Crab and Florida Stone Crab. Their dedication and passion has made The Crab Broker the second largest distributor of Alaska Red King Crab in the U.S.

Rob is readying for his annual trip to Dutch Harbor on October 22nd. Due to the government shutdown, the season was delayed about 7 to 9 days. Starting October 29th (scheduled) he will ship two to three times every week and for as long as the season remains open. Due to the season open delay, Rob thinks there may be a chance to have fresh crab for Thanksgiving too.
