HOUSTON August 25, 2015 Phillip and Laura Brown are thrilled to announce the opening of their second restaurant venture, Brick & Mortar Kitchen. Located adjacent to the new Gallery Furniture store in the heart of Richmond, Texas, the farm-to-table concept features a refined menu inspired by the flavors of the South. The restaurant is open daily for lunch, happy hour and supper in addition to Saturday and Sunday brunch.

“Family has always been so important to us, so when the opportunity presented itself for us to open our next restaurant venture on the same site as my father’s new Gallery Furniture store, we couldn’t resist,” said owner Laura Brown. “Opening our first restaurant, Vince Young Steakhouse, was such a labor of love, Phillip and I are thrilled to be able to experience it all again with Brick & Mortar Kitchen.”

Under the direction of Executive Chef Eric Johnson, Brick & Mortar Kitchen’s menu will frequently rotate to highlight the best locally sourced, seasonal produce. Menu highlights include: Fried Quail with buttermilk grits, braised greens, and pickled fresnos and the Pork Chop with featuring vanilla brine, haricot verts, champagne vinaigrette and Marcona almonds.

The dessert menu, carefully crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Efrain Roman, features whimsical treats suited for every palate. Dessert highlights include: the Funnel Cake with homemade strawberry ice cream, mixed berry compote and vanilla cream; the Popcorn Milkshake with cashew candied corn, Espellete, and brown butter foam and the BMK Sundae Brownie with bourbon ice cream, bacon peanut brittle and bourbon toffee sauce.

The bar program features a unique cocktail and spirits menu and 10 Texas craft beers on tap. Not-to-be-missed libations include the Southern Belle with Dripping Springs, St. Germain, lemon and Crème de Violettes and the Porch Swing with Flor de Cana 7yr, watermelon, lime and Cocchi Americano. The 120 bottle wine list, curated by Sommelier Lexey Johnson, covers all regions of the world and includes both large and small producers. Happy hour, held daily from 4-7 p.m. in the restaurant’s bar and lounge area and the outdoor patio, features $3 off wines by the glass and $1 off all drinks.

Brick & Mortar Kitchen’s sleek dining room perfectly marries modern design elements with retro inspired finishes, including leather tufted seating and checkerboard flooring. The space features two private dining rooms and an expansive lounge and bar area perfectly suited for special events and corporate gatherings. In addition to the main dining room, the restaurant features an outdoor patio, complete with covered seating and space heaters.
