Cher Partners With Cat Cora’s Chefs For Humanity To Fight Hunger

Cher Partners With Cat Cora’s Chefs For Humanity To Fight HungerTogether with music icon Cher, charity partners Chefs for Humanity and Wholesome Wave have committed to fight hunger in America through Cher’s 2014 U.S. tour. Cher has graciously matched every dollar donated to Chefs for Humanity and Wholesome Wave’s mobile giving campaign, a nationwide initiative increasing access to healthy, fresh food in major urban areas across the US. Together, during her current “Dressed To Kill” tour which continues throughout the fall in the U.S., Cher, Cora’s Chefs for Humanity and Wholesome Wave have come together to conceive and execute this important initiative to not only raise funds, but also awareness around this important cause.

As a mother of four, celebrity chef and lifestyle expert Cat Cora says that issue of hunger hits close to home. “Parents like myself are so blessed to be able to put food on the table every day-no family is this country should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from,” says Cora. “We’re beyond thankful for Cher’s generous support.”

That is exactly why her charity, Chefs for Humanity, is partnering with anti-hunger nonprofit Wholesome Wave’s Double Value Coupon Program, which allows recipients of federal nutrition benefits to spend twice the value of their vouchers when they buy fresh fruit and vegetables at local farmers markets.

The program will leverage an extensive network of more than 60 community-based partners at 300 markets in 24 states and the District of Columbia, with the goal of significantly increasing access to affordable, healthy, fresh food in reached nearly 40,000 people, enlisted 3,500 farmers, and generated an additional $.245 million in revenue from the redemption of federal nutrition benefits and vouchers.
