Family-owned and operated since 1984, Ezell’s Famous Chicken first franchise is ready to hit the streets of Seattle. The first day of business for Ezell’s Express will be Thursday May 9 at Starbucks Center where the truck will appear weekly from 11am – 2pm.
Phylicia Davidson and business partner Jennifer Stephens, daughters of Ezell’s Famous Chicken founders Lewis Rudd and the late Samuel Stephens, purchased the Ezell’s franchising rights for mobile trucks. Both having worked in the business since they were children, they saw it as a way to carry on the family business. “We are the next generation of fresh, good and fast,” says Davidson.
Even without Oprah Winfrey’s “the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life” blessing or a number one vote by Esquire readers in 2012 as life-changing, over the last 25 years Ezell’s Famous Chicken has demonstrated that it provides the fried chicken experience that customers want -crisp, made from scratch, creole-marinated bird.
When asked when they will have the planned fleet of Ezell’s Express trucks, Davidson comments “We need to get this first one up and going and then we will roll them out the one by one shortly after.”
