GAEA WINS 3 AWARDS IN 3 DAYS: GOLD, SILVER, AND BRONZE AWARDS IN 3 MAJOR INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL COMPETITIONS

Annually during the spring months, a series of olive oil competitions are held in major cities across the world, in a search for top quality olive oils. Gaea’s numerous global awards are a reflection of the brand’s embracement of an honest production process—from harvesting to bottling, as well as an unwavering commitment to quality and taste.

 

Gaea Fresh Extra Virgin Olive Oil won Gold at the New York Olive Oil competition, the world’s largest and most prestigious quality competition for extra virgin olive oils on April 15th, 2015. Gaea Fresh Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a new product slated to hit retail shelves along the East Coast in July 2015. Each bottle of Gaea Fresh is made from the juice of over 2,000 hand-picked olives, from the Krista Estate, located in Crete. To ensure optimal freshness, the olives are press and bottled within three hours of harvesting. Additionally, Gaea won the Silver Award for its Kalamata DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil at Olive Oil Japan in Tokyo, on April 17th, 2015 and the Bronze Award for Gaea’s Sitia DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil at the International Olive Oil Competition in Los Angeles on April 16th, 2015. Gaea’s Kalamata variety has a distinctive peppery and almond taste of the Koroneiki olive, and Sitia boasts a harmonious combination of fruity and slightly peppery flavors.

 

The recent accolades received during this year’s award season are especially significant given the price point of products Gaea competed against. Specifically, Gaea products retail between $11-$15 per bottle, and still placed higher than oil varieties of higher retail value, including premium products from Italy and Spain, retailing over $40 per bottle. David Neuman, CEO of Gaea US elaborated on the significance behind the recent achievements, sharing, “The fact that an affordable Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Greece placed higher than a premium-priced bottle from Italy or Spain is proof that Greece needs to be in the conversation when talking about the best olive oils in the world.
