Following a multi-million-dollar reimagination, the opening of Pendry Chicago in May 2021 marked Pendry Hotels & Resorts’ Midwest debut, bringing new art, design, and luxury offerings to the heart of downtown. - Opening on Friday, June 25th 2021, Château Carbide is a secret, Cote d’Azur-inspired open-air rooftop perched 24 stories above Michigan Avenue. Named in tribute to the 1920s-era Carbide & Carbon Building (the iconic champagne-bottle-top landmark) in which it resides, the sun-soaked al fresco terrace and luxurious interior lounge welcomes guests with rosé, champagne magnums and hand-rolled sushi.
- On the ground floor of the hotel, tucked behind heavy drapery, the secluded Bar Pendry serves as a fireside retreat focusing on classic cocktails and chef-driven bar bites in an intimate setting.
SECRET ROOFTOP ROSÉ GARDEN — CHÂTEAU CARBIDEDEBUTS ATOP PENDRY CHICAGO: Offering a hidden escape to the French Riviera 24 stories above the bustle of the city, Château Carbide offers Chicagoans and travelers an exciting opportunity to experience the iconic art deco-style building in a whole new way. Indoors, two adjoining rooms encased in glass windows offer intimate seating in plush velvet banquettes for up to 80 guests. A gold-trimmed bar houses bottles of specialty rosé by Chateau d’Esclans alongside an open-view sushi station. Outdoors, guests can immerse themselves in a Cote d’Azure-inspired garden oasis overlooking Chicago’s skyline, which serves as an all-day destination with dual daytime and nighttime ambiances. By day, guests can soak up the sun and relax on soft seating and striped loungers while sipping on an array of summer favorites, including a curated selected of rosé available by the glass, bottle, magnum or jeroboam (3 liters), as well as craft cocktails, champagne, frosé and more. Accompanying the pours and designed for sharing, the Carbide Picnic features an assorted basket of artisanal cheese and charcuterie, market crudité, locally-brewed spiked kombucha and optional Siberian Osetra caviar. At 5:00 p.m., Château Carbide seamlessly transitions into an exclusive nightlife scene complete with rotating DJs spinning French house music, rosé and champagne-forward bottle service, oversized rattan lanterns and a plethora of candles along with light bites and a menu of hand-rolled sushi from Chef Tony Kim (The Peninsula) such as Crunchy Tuna with Fresh Truffle Mushroom Maki, Smoked Lobster, Maguro Caprese, and more. BEHIND THE CURTAIN — BAR PENDRY, A CELEBRATION OF THE CLASSIC CHICAGO BAR: Recently opened in tandem with the hotel on May 26th, Bar Pendry is an homage to the classic Chicago cocktail bar and provides a cozy, intimate setting for business meetings, post-work drinks and late nightcaps. Tucked behind a heavy floor-to-ceiling curtain adjacent to the lobby, the intimate space boasts a dark and moody atmosphere with leather sofas, oversized armchairs, cozy, custom banquettes, and a curated collection of art. Centered around a double-sided fireplace, the 54-person bar focuses on specialty and seasonal cocktails crafted with ultra-high-end, locally-sourced ingredients as well as a selection of wine and local beers. Through the afternoon and evening, Pendry Chicago’s Executive Chef Jeff Vucko (The Langham, Public, The Wit) presents a menu of elevated bar bites including Turkey Bacon Jam Burger, Tuna Tartare, and Pomme Frites with Malt Vinegar Aioli.
