Reduced fat and reduced sodium product provides solution for dietary restrictions for those serving in the healthcare industry
Americans have always craved macaroni & cheese, chicken potpie, apple dumplings, and pot roasts; and those in the food industry make classic comfort foods a priority in order to meet this demand. However, feeding those with a need for reduced fat and reduced sodium diets has made finding delicious, traditional meals a challenge for many in the healthcare industry.
JTM Food Group created the new Premium Beef Strew in direct response to the need for nutritional comfort food in the healthcare marketplace. Made with tender chunks of premium beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions in a rich, beef sauce, the Premium Beef Stew is both a reduced fat and a reduced sodium product. The product is packed in a boilable/steamable bag to drastically reduce preparation time.
“Based on a specific healthcare customer’s request, we were asked to make a product that could compare with a homemade beef stew that had tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef,” said Tracy Boggs, RD, Director of National Healthcare Sales for JTM. “We have not only met that challenge, but surpassed it by creating a product good enough to be served in any restaurant, while tastily meeting the nutrition needs of the most demanding patient.”
Premium Beef Stew is part of the ‘Better Steps’ line from JTM Food Group, which features more than 100 gluten-free products alongside a wide variety of reduced fat and reduced sodium products. Each 6-ounce serving of Premium Beef Stew provides 116 calories, 2.3 grams of fat, and 496 grams of sodium.
