Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort, Tobago Announces Hiring Of Executive Chef Denis JaricotMagdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort in Tobago has hired Denis Jaricot as its new executive chef. Chef Jaricot brings nearly 40 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry to the Magdalena Grand.

Chef Jaricot was raised and educated in Lyon, France and began his career as an apprentice at PLM Hotel Terminus – Perrache in his hometown. Chef Jaricot moved up the ranks in the restaurant industry, from apprentice to executive chef, at esteemed resorts and hotels including the Four Seasons Montreal; Grand Lido – SuperClubs Resorts in Negril, Jamaica; Sandal Regency La Toc in St. Lucia; and Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa in the Dominican Republic, among others. His most recent position was as a sales manager at Pompano Fish Farm with Caribbean Seafarms S.R.I.

“We believe Chef Jaricot’s credentials will be a valuable asset to the Magdalena Grand food and beverage operation,” said John Murphy, principal, efm Hospitality Solutions, operator of Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort. “Having experience in all facets of the industry, Chef Jaricot demonstrates he is capable of taking our restaurant operation to the next level,” he continued.

At Magdalena Grand, Chef Jaricot will oversee a team of 57 kitchen and stewarding staff. He will be responsible for all food production in the resort’s restaurants, banquet functions and other outlets and will develop menus, purchase food and create new recipes. Along with food production, Chef Jaricot will also create and monitor the food and labor budget for the department all while maintaining the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards.

Guests staying at the Magdalena Grand have a wide variety of options when it comes to dining. From the Pembois Restaurant & Terrace where guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet to the Salaka Grill where travelers will find a delicious selection of salads, sandwiches, wraps and light snacks. At night the Salaka Grill turns into the Chef’s blackboard special restaurant, using the freshest ingredients. The upscale Kali’na features traditional Caribbean or Creole recipes prepared in a modern European way. Robinson Crusoe, an English-style pub and sports bar, features a pub menu and full-service bar. Benne Café offers a wide range of freshly ground and brewed coffee and teas along with homemade delights from the bakery. Tavaco Lounge is the perfect spot to enjoy classic cocktails, premium spirits and sparkling drinks and the Li’l Nylon Pool Bar is a swim-up pool bar.

New Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort
Magdalena Grand has taken over the management of the 18-hole Tobago Plantations Golf Course and has completely refurbished the course. The golf course, which officially opened on Dec. 1, 2013, is a Par-72, 18-hole course that has been woven into the landscape of Tobago Plantations Estate, a gated community of luxury villas, condos and bungalows.

The refurbishment project upgraded the course to Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) standards. In addition to enhancements on the course, the resort purchased new golf carts, pro shop merchandise, and food and beverage equipment.

Golfers can take practice their short game on the pitching and putting greens while enhancing their swing at the driving range. The club house, situated between the first and tenth tees, features a pro shop, club room lounge, shoes and club rental, changing rooms, classrooms and golf bag storage. The club house restaurant – Fairways Bar & Grill – offers a comprehensive food and beverage menu.
Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort features 178 rooms with 22 one or two-bedroom suite combinations. The spacious suites offer a private balcony, hot tub and parlor containing a pull-out sofa-bed. The resort’s two-bedroom suites have a king-size and two double beds while the resort’s one-bedroom suites include the option of either one king-size or two double beds.

All of the resort’s rooms feature spacious marble bathrooms with shower and tub; deluxe toiletries, bathrobes and slippers; pure cotton linens; central air conditioning; ceiling fan; iron and ironing board; salon hair dryer; mini refrigerator; coffee/tea maker; safe; high-definition flat screen IP televisions; complimentary wireless Internet access; and IP telephones.
