The Fish House Punch is no newcomer to times of celebration, having been enjoyed at countless gatherings since colonial times. This year, serve your guests a centuries-old classic made with a top quality rum. Single batched, and aged in toasted American oak bourbon barrels, The Real McCoy 5 Year Aged Rum touts flavor notes of delicious warm caramel sure to add a rounded balance to this self-serve crowd pleaser. Below is the recipe for The Fish House Punch adapted from the book “Cocktails for a Crowd.”

Ingredients:

  • One 750-ml bottle of The Real McCoy 5-year-aged rum
  • 28 oz. (3 ½ cups) hot water
  • 1 cup Demerara sugar
  • 12 oz. (1 ½ cups) cognac
  • 12 oz. (1 ½ cups) peach brandy
  • 12 oz. (1 ½ cups) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 ice block

Garnish:

  • Lemon wheels and star anise

Directions:

  1. In a pitcher that holds at least 13 cups, combine the hot water and sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Stir in Real McCoy 5-year-aged rum, cognac, peach brandy and lemon juice.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, until thoroughly chilled.
  4. To serve, pour the punch into a punch bowl and add ice.
  5. Garnish with lemon wheels and star anise.
  6. Ladle into punch glasses or teacups.
