For 40 years, Anthony’s RUNWAY 84 (Runway), has maintained a well-earned reputation as an iconic South Florida restaurant and one of Fort Lauderdale’s most celebrated spots for dining and imbibing. Whether its local power players, nationally-known celebrities, sports stars or political elites, Runway has been known as a spot for those to see-and-be-seen as well as its delicious and classic Italian-American cuisine, airline-themed décor and buzzy bar. This spring, the restaurant that helped define Italian cookery and hospitality for generations will temporarily close its doors to renovate, refresh and prepare for a late-2022 relaunch. Fans of the restaurant will want to get their last dose of cauliflower rigatoni and meatballs & martinis before Thursday, May 12, 2022, when Runway will have its last night of service before closing.
Iconic Dining Institution Close
“I am excited for the next era of Runway”, says owner Anthony Bruno. “I have been here 40 years and to see the new vision for the space come to life is going to be spectacular.” Reassuring his long-time loyal customers, he adds, “Don’t worry though, the new Runway will still have all the history, nostalgia, staff and most importantly the food.”
