THE BLUE DOG COOKHOUSE & BAR IS NOW OPEN IN BOCA RATON

When The Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar (Blue Dog) expanded its flagship New York City location in 2019 into a full-service, bustling restaurant and bar it quickly gained a well-earned reputation for its elevated comfort-driven fare, sophisticated cocktail program, and chic bustling vibe. Now the Manhattan-based culinary concept brings the same meticulously-crafted cuisine and polished service to South Florida when it opened to the public on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at 6000 Glades Road at Town Center in Boca Raton.

Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar Opens in Boca Raton

“Much has happened since the original Blue Dog Café opened in 2006, and even more so in the past two years since we became a full-service high-end restaurant beyond the seven-day brunch we were historically known for,” says operator Elizabeth Slavutsky. “We had our eye on South Florida as the home for our first restaurant outside New York for some time and Boca Raton just made sense. Blue Dog was designed to be the type of place where guests can enjoy an elevated yet approachable dining experience that is as ideal for date night dinners, or cocktails with friends, just as it is for a family birthday party. Boca Raton is an amazing city with a population that appreciates fine fare and hospitality. I believe we will take the dining experience to a whole new level and we’re excited to welcome our first guests.”

The menu, overseen and executed by Corporate Chef Yanna Slavutsky and Executive Chef Chris Barre, reads like a dream, overflowing with tempting options that speak to practically every whim or flavor profile. The dinner menu kicks off with a selection of East and West Coast Oysters served with peach mignonette and cocktail sauce, as well as Oyster Shooters. Guests are encouraged to Start & Share with an eclectic and thoughtful array of temptations including Grilled Octopus with farm potato, yuzu chimichurri, and blistered cherry tomato; Rubies & Pearls prepared with yellowtail, salmon crudo, wasabi tobiko, and citrus ponzu; Butternut Squash Fries with spicy harissa aioli; and Buffalo Cauliflower with sweet chili and blue cheese ranch. Handmade Dumplings steal the show featuring creative takes on a variety of choices.  The Tuna Pizzete, Ahi Tataki, and Bone Marrow Crab Cake are signature dishes. Guests can enjoy the Antioxidant Salad, Caesar Salad, and The Blue Dog Cobb. Large Plates are the star of the show with quality choices from The Land including Braised Short Ribs with horseradish mashed potato and crispy brussels sprouts; the Filet Trio with crab Oscar, bearnaise and truffle butter; a 32oz Prime Tomahawk or 48oz Porterhouse for two. Delights from The Sea include Lobster Mac & Cheese with Maine lobster, tomato blush and toasted panko; Crusted Ahi Tuna with forbidden rice, baby bok choy, tamarind teriyaki wasabi and micro shiso. Guests can also indulge in traditional pasta dishes such as Seafood Tagliatelle and Truffle Wild Mushroom Gnocchi or Basil Pesto Farfalle. An incredible selection of Signature Burgers is also on offer, including the Notorious D.O.G. – beef burger with boozy cheese, onion strings, sunny side egg and truffled chicken gravy.

As an homage to the original Blue Dog Café, the restaurant also serves brunch seven days a week. Dishes include hand-tailored omelets, an array of Benedicts, egg sandwiches, and Chef Specialties which run the gamut from a Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast, Fried Chicken and Waffles, and Huevos Rancheros to a House-Cured Salmon Platter.

The Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar’s décor and design mirror the warmth and approachability of its staff and service style. Located at Town Center, Blue Dog sits 220 between its al fresco patio, chicly appointed dining room and bar/lounge. The restaurant blends polished sophistication with a homey vibe, amplified through warm color tones, natural woods, and vibrant brass and copper accents. The mood is elevated comfort, a setting that communicates – as soon as guests enter – the promise of top-tier food and service without the trappings of a “formal” white tablecloth-style fine dining experience. Warm golden illumination, emitted from hanging globe-style light fixtures, set the mood with an expansive level of attention to detail from the cutlery design to the handmade dinnerware – evoking a sense of both antiquity and timelessness. Cozy banquettes create intimate spaces with a buzzy dining room as the main stage lending itself for a night of fine food, drink and frivolity.
