This Easter, Maldivian-owned Coco Bodu Hithi resort is set to welcome their first visiting sushi chef, award-winning Chef Pepi Anevski. He will be enhancing the dining experience at Tsuki, the resort’s Japanese-specialty restaurant, with his creative sushi and sashimi art on Easter Sunday, 31st March & Monday, 1st April. Originally from Macedonia, Chef Pepi won the first-ever World Sushi Cup in Tokyo, Japan in 2013 and has since been renowned as the world’s most creative sushi master. He has specialized in classic Japanese sushi in Chiba, Japan under the tutelage of Mr Masayoshi Kazato. A certified sushi head chef with more than 20 years of experience, Chef Pepi holds certifications from the World Sushi Skill Institute and the All-Japan Sushi Association (AJSA). In 2019, he opened Sushi Rebellion in Mälmo, Sweden, to serve high-quality sushi with a rebellious touch in a casual, urban environment. The restaurant was recently voted as one of the Top 10 Best Sushi Restaurants in Sweden. “What I bring to the table is a solid understanding of cultural differences, a strong track record of working cross-functional, and an understanding of the whole value chain from raw product to the customer’s plate”, says Chef Pepi. While his creativity originates from his innate curiosity about combining new flavors and developing recipes, his humble approach to culture and local products brings an unexpected twist and an elegant surprise to the tastebuds. Speaking about Chef Pepi’s upcoming residency, Coco Bodu Hithi General Manager Alexi Argyris said, “I believe to have such a talent amongst us would not only be an inspiration to our team but an elevated dining experience for our guests as well. I am excited to welcome such a versatile chef who has excelled in various styles in his cookery to share a taste of his exquisite food”. Since 2012, Coco Bodu Hithi has opened its doors to guest chefs, but Chef Pepi marks the first sushi maestro to helm the kitchens of Tsuki. He will enchant guests with two extraordinary dinners on 31st March and 1st April. Additionally, he will offer two exclusive experiences, showcasing dishes that blend the Maldives’ vibrant flavors with traditional Japanese and East Asian elements. Chef Pepi’s visit promises a sensory delight.
