A Slice Above the Rest: Mrs. Smith’s Brand Launches Original Flaky Crust Pies, Made with Real ButterButtering things up can make everything better — whether you’re talking people or pies!

A survey from the makers of Mrs. Smith’s pies called “The Butter Up Report” reveals that nearly six in 10 Americans admit they would do something to butter someone up for the holiday season, primarily to spread holiday cheer or set a good example for others.  And more than three in four people (77%) say they have buttered someone up by being extra nice before asking for something.

The makers of America’s #1 fruit pies for holidays*, introduces the Mrs. Smith’s Original Flaky Crust, an unbaked pie made with real butter for a perfectly flaky crust that consumers won’t be able to resist.

“During the holidays, families want beautifully prepared, delicious fruit pies that fill the house with fresh-baked aromas. Our new line of pies will deliver that experience and more,” said Susan Allen, senior director for brand management at Schwan’s Consumer Brands, Inc. “Our new crust recipe, which includes real butter, will deliver a flaky crust unlike anything on the market today. As our survey shows, giving a pie is a sure way to butter someone up.”

The online survey of 1,000 U.S. adults ages 18 and older, which shows the details about how and why people “butter each other up,” also reveals:

  • 57 percent of respondents think it is important that there is butter in their store-bought pie crusts.
  • 32 percent of respondents think their significant other need the most buttering up (32%), followed by another family member (16%), and a boss (10%).
