At this year’s Fi South America there will be a strong emphasis on two key themes: innovation and sustainability. The event will champion industry innovation through the Fi Innovation Awards, the Startup Challenge and Innovation Tours. With over 700 brands and 52 countries represented at the event, the show floor also promises to be a rich source of inspiration for product development. Trending ingredients are predicted to be solutions for plant-based foods, alternative proteins and collagen.

The content programme is another highlight, as it offers busy professionals a concise yet comprehensive format for getting up to speed on the latest trends, technologies and developments. This year’s agenda is built around current industry challenges, such as supply chain issues, sustainable sourcing and regulatory changes. The Future of Nutrition Summit, for example, includes sessions such as ‘Sustainable collagen innovations’ and ‘The evaluation process for new botanical ingredients and CBD in Latin America’.

Brazil is currently the fourth largest global food market, the largest producer of sugar cane and coffee and the largest exporter of soya beans, cocoa and orange juice. It is a country at the epicentre of discussions around sustainable food production. As such, Fi South America has been thoughtfully planned to inspire and inform sustainable innovation, through features such as the Green Lounge and conference sessions focusing on sustainability. These include the Roundtable: How can the food industry accelerate the development of the bioeconomy?
