Parallel 38 Launches New Menu
Life is all about choices, especially when it comes to eating out. Selecting the type of cuisine you want to enjoy is the typically the first of many decisions to be made when going out to dinner. One restaurant is trying to change that. Located in the booming foodie town of Charlottesville, VA, Parallel 38 is a new type of restaurant whose menu is inspired by the world’s most iconic food and wine regions (Alicante in Spain, Italy’s Calabria, the Greek Ionian Islands, Napa Valley and Charlottesville) – all of which sit along the 38th parallel. The menu provides a diverse selection of small plates that meld together the styles and flavors of these regions.
In a single meal guests can enjoy classically-inspired Italian pasta dishes, traditional Greek dips and wines from Turkey, Napa Valley or Northern Virginia. – the unifying factor being that everything you will encounter at P38 is inspired by the temperate regions that sit along the 38th parallel.
Now in its second year, the award-winning restaurant has launched a new, expanded menu that combines elements of their original offerings (specifically, popular signature dishes that guests have come to crave) with exciting and accessible new dishes, maintaining the restaurant’s mission of introducing people to new flavors and textures.
Highlights from the new menu include:
- Roasted Pork Belly Cipollini onions, roasted garlic, sumac, pork jus reduction
- Boquerones white anchovies, olio verde, marash, citrus
- Beef-Pork-Goat Meatballs parmesan, oregano, puttanesca
- Olives & Almonds thassos, castrelvellano, arbequena, picholine, marcona almonds, spiced California almonds
- Panzanella Salad rocket, sumac toasted croutons, garlic vinaigrette, parmesan
- Housemade Tagliatelle braised lamb, eggplant, feta

About Parallel 38: Located at 2055 Bond St. in Charlottesville, VA Parallel 38 (P38) is a Mediterranean style restaurant whose menu is inspired by the world’s most iconic food and wine regions (Alicante in Spain, Italy’s Calabria, the Greek Ionian Islands, Napa Valley and Charlottesville) – all of which sit along the 38th parallel. The eatery offers a contemporary and casual environment that encourages guests to explore the unique flavors found within these temperate regions. P38 boasts one of the region’s most extensive and well-rounded selections of international wines and the list itself is written and divided up in a way that’s easy to read and easy to understand. P38’s wine program offers over 100 bottles from handpicked boutique wineries with an assortment of performing staples, exotic varietals and unexplored regions. Every bottle is available by the glass and even the most expensive and rare selections, which P38 affectionately call “Trophy Wine,” are available by the ounce.
Prior to opening Parallel 38 owner Justin Ross spent years working alongside some of the world’s most celebrated chefs including Chef Mike Isabella (runner-up on Top Chef All-Stars and Food & Wine Magazine’s ‘Peoples Best New Chef for the Mid-Atlantic,) and Chef Richard Hamilton (of critically acclaimed restaurants Alain Ducasse and Joel Robuchon;) he also trained extensively under Jose Andres while working for ThinkfoodGroup in Washington DC.
