Kentucky Derby Tropical Julep

May 5, 2012 marks the 138th Kentucky Derby, America’s original and extravagant race.  But this is not just a race, it’s about history, tradition, and even fashion.  From the giant hats to the mint juleps, there are so many symbols of this rich American tradition.  Check out CASCAL’s twist on an American classic with the “Kentucky Derby Tropical Julep” recipe below, as well as a non-alcoholic version!  Let me know if you need the high res image.  Thanks!

Kentucky Derby Tropical Julep

2 oz Bourbon

CASCAL Fresh Tropical Soda

Juice of half of a small lime

Mint sprigs

Crushed ice

Method:
Crush a few mint leaves in the bottom of a Collins glass, and then fill with crushed ice.

Pour in 2 ounces of Bourbon.

Top up with CASCAL Fresh Tropical Soda.

Stir gently. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.

A non-alcoholic version of this cocktail can be served by substituting the Bourbon with CASCAL Fresh Tropical Soda.

In essence is it Cascal Tropical Soda with fresh mint, a squeeze of lime, and crushed ice.
