Mandy’s Pizza and Naturally Soergel to Hold First Allergen-Friendly Trick or Treat Night for Kids

Food-Allergy & Gluten-Friendly Trick or Treating

Mandy’s Pizza and Naturally Soergel’s Team Up for Kids So That They Can Safely Trick or Treat

Pittsburgh – October 15, 2012: Mandy’s Pizza, with two locations in Pittsburgh, along with Naturally Soergel’s, is teaming up to hold the 1st Annual Spooky Hollow Night of Nut and Gluten-Free Trick or Treating.

Halloween is a holiday for kids, however many kids are not able to take part in running around a neighborhood with an empty pillowcase in hopes of filling it with treats. For this reason, many kids can become depressed while feeling left out as their young friends cannot understand why their buddy cannot enjoy the evening as they do.

“When our 10-year old son Brandon, who suffers from severe food allergies, thinks of Halloween it’s generally followed up with the comment of I just don’t want to go out”, states Steven Negri, President of the Mandy’s Pizza Group.

Steven, and his wife Veronica, along with some of their neighbors, have tried to make this holiday easier for Brandon by having “safe” treats there just in case he were to come knocking on their door. However, with much misunderstanding of these food-related diseases, others will hand out the traditional nut or wheat based treats, of which many could send a child into anaphylactic shock, and potentially death if not treated immediately.

“We know first-hand what Halloween is like for a child with food allergies, and it’s for this reason we are elated to help Amy at Naturally Soergel to simply allow kids to smile and feel as I they too can enjoy the tradition of dressing up and knocking on doors for treats”, states Veronica Negri.
