Zippy’s Restaurants Purchases Las Vegas Parcel

Zippy’s Restaurants Purchases Las Vegas ParcelZippy’s Restaurant’s today announced that it has completed the purchase of vacant land in southwest Las Vegas to build the first Zippy’s Restaurant outside of Hawaii. The site is located at the south east corner of Badura Avenue and Montessouri Street. The site is currently undeveloped and Zippy’s is expected to build a 7,000 square foot restaurant, take-out, and retail bakery, in addition to a 12,000 square foot central kitchen/bakery to support future growth in Las Vegas.

“The location in southwest Las Vegas is ideal for Zippy’s Restaurants,” says CEO Jason Higa. “This area is burgeoning with residential housing. In addition, the location near the 215 Beltway will provide an efficient transportation hub for our central production facility to support the additional Zippy’s stores to open in other parts of Las Vegas.”

The land was purchased from Laurich Properties, founded by chairman Hank Gordon, and currently led by president Richard Gordon. Richard Gordon states, “Laurich Properties is excited to welcome such an iconic Hawaii brand to Las Vegas and we wish them great success.”

The new location will require extensive site improvements and the construction of a central kitchen and bakery, which adds considerable complexity beyond a standard restaurant build. Therefore, the opening of Zippy’s Restaurants is expected in the later part of next year.

Las Vegas fans of Zippys’ Hawaii-centric style of cooking will be able to satisfy their cravings sooner, when Zippy’s Restaurants plans to participate in the Pure Aloha Festival, a Hawaii-centric festival on Easter weekend in Las Vegas. “We wanted to thank our fans in Las Vegas for their patience and support by serving our signature Zippy’s chili, if only for a limited time,” says Paul Yokota, president of Zippy’s.
