Arizona Biltmore Setting the Table for Summer with Beer Dinners, Summer Iced Tea and Kids Cooking ClassesThe Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort is offering unique culinary activities and experiences for all ages this summer with paired Beer Dinners, Summer Tea service with exotic iced teas, and Kids Cooking Classes.

Summer Iced Tea:
The Arizona Biltmore has served Afternoon Tea since opening in 1929, but last year was the first time the historic resort offered a Summer Tea service with iced tea selections. It was so warmly received that Summer Tea is coming back for a second year starting May 15.

The service combines a beautiful presentation of five sandwiches, four desserts, a scone and tea cake
with your choice of six hot or iced teas in an array of innovative and exotic flavors. They include Ceylon gold, white ginger pear, blackberry pomegranate, raspberry nectar, lavender citrus and green mango peach. Gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free and vegan menu options are available with advance notice. Orchestrating the Summer Tea experience is Tea Sommelier Kevin Doyle. Bringing extensive knowledge in teas and tea service, he welcomes each guest personally, graciously explains the menu, describes the flavors and characteristics of the different teas, and oversees all aspects of the service.Seatings are from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Thursday-Sunday. A summer series of Biltmore Beer Dinners will pair Arizona and California microbrews with original menus crafted by Executive Chef Gordon Maybury and Chef de Cuisine Jason Jaynes.

“The unique beers being created by microbreweries today are a joy to pair with food because they are sophisticated, nuanced and burst with a range of flavors, consistencies and finishes,” said Chef Maybury. “Our Biltmore Beer Dinners are multi-faceted culinary experiences that wow beer aficionados and novices alike.”

June 9 will feature Tempe-based Four Peaks Brewery; July 14 Petaluma, California-based Lagunitas Brewery; and August 11 Vista, California-based Iron Fist Brewing Company.

Held in the private Sunroom at Frank & Albert’s restaurant, the dinners start at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $40 per person for a four-course dinner. Tax and 18 percent gratuity are additional. Each Biltmore Beer Dinner will have a representative of the brewery there to discuss their beers and brewing techniques.

Kids Cooking Classes:
Every Saturday during the summer, budding young chefs can discover the joys of preparing delicious food at the Kids Cooking Classes at the Arizona Biltmore.

Donning chef’s hats and aprons, so they feel like they are real chefs, the kids learn basic cooking techniques from professional Biltmore chefs, help prepare several dishes, and then eat the food they prepared.

The classes, for children 5-14, are from 3:00-4:00 pm Saturdays in Frank & Albert’s restaurant. The cost is $20. Reservations: 602-381-7632.
