Bunkhouse Unveils Renovations To Shady Villa Hotel In Salado, Texas

Originally built as a motel in the 1950s, the Shady Villa Hotel in Salado has announced that it is now being operated and reimagined by Austin’s celebrated Bunkhouse group, along with returning to its original name (most recently known as the Stagecoach Inn). A private oasis in Salado, the 48-room property embodies the classic, mid-century motel feel, featuring six buildings spread out across seven acres of lush land and heritage trees with a large swimming pool and pavilion sitting as the center point; an onsite restaurant and bar; multiple event spaces; and modern conveniences all set amidst mid-century architecture. The hotel is also home to the Stagecoach Restaurant, which is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Texas dating back to 1861 and pays homage to its history by melding Old Texas and modern techniques with locally sourced ingredients.

Following the Villa Hotel in Salado most recent renovation by architectural firm Clayton Korte, the Bunkhouse design team recently revealed a series of refreshments to the public spaces and rooms, including colorful custom rugs and textiles featuring four color schemes (red, blue, green, and yellow), new vintage lighting, and updated art from Austin photographer Nick Simonite, while keeping the rich wood-paneled walls, custom built-in furniture and pool-inspired bathroom design. Additionally, the lobby has a new front desk and curated lobby shop with a unique selection of retail items focused on local makers. Outdoors, a pavilion games area has been created with ping pong, darts, and more entertainment for all ages, along with housing a Pool Bar for poolside refreshments. In keeping with Bunkhouse’s ethos of creating community-driven experiences, new cultural programming has been added as well, such as live music, a swim club, and local partnerships. www.shadyvillahotel.com
