Chile’s Maipo Voted #3 Wine Destination Worldwide

Chile’s Maipo Voted #3 Wine Destination WorldwideChile’s Maipo Valley wine region has been named as one of the “Top Three Wine Regions to Visit” by USA Today readers. The only South American region to make it on the prestigious list of international wine regions, Maipo was praised for its accessibility, boutique wineries and “top-notch” Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere.

“Not only does Maipo produce outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere, but the wine valley is one of South America’s most beloved places for its charming views of vineyards within the panorama of the Andes Mountains,” said Marybeth Bentwood, Executive Director of Wines of Chile USA. “We know that U.S. consumers love Chilean wines, but we’re thrilled to see that they rank Maipo among the world’s best wine destinations.”

The article mentions that Maipo is an accessible day trip from the Chilean capital of Santiago, and is home to many French-inspired boutique wineries, earning the region’s nickname “Little Bordeaux.” Additionally, USA Today recommended visiting the nearby El Morado National Park to combine a nature trip with winery hopping.

As part of the top three wine destinations, Chile’s Maipo Valley joined world-class regions Alentego in Portugal and Okanagan Valley in the U.S.
