Flanagan Wines Finds New Home in the Dry Creek Valley

Flanagan Wines Finds New Home in the Dry Creek ValleyEric Flanagan, owner of Flanagan Wines, purchases the former Everett Ridge Winery in Dry Creek Valley. Last year, Eric led the Russian River Partners Investment Fund in the purchase of two Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir vineyards, including the iconic Platt Vineyard.

The winery’s first wine was 150 cases of 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, however the winery started in 2001 by planting a mountainside vineyard in a part of Sonoma County that would later become the Bennett Valley AVA. Today, Flanagan Wines is crafting delicious wines from some of the top vineyard sites in Sonoma County, and the investment in a new winery solidifies their ability to meet the growing demand for their wines.

Flanagan Wines Finds New Home in the Dry Creek Valley“We couldn’t be more thrilled to find this special winery site and estate vineyards,” says Eric Flanagan. “We realized two years ago that the winery I built in Bennett Valley wouldn’t meet our future needs.  Acquiring an operating winery with a 25,000 case permit, ten acres of vineyard, and a public tasting room feels like a miracle. The location on West Dry Creek Road, just off of Westside Road, is two minutes from downtown Healdsburg and will allow us to connect with our customers in way we never could before.”

The winery sits on twenty acres, with ten acres of planted vineyards. Flanagan will be replanting the vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon with modern spacing to make the most of the incredible hillside site.  The winery also plans to make significant capital investment in the facility, grounds, and public tasting room. Flanagan will focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley AVA’s, and will continue to produce their delicious Bennett Valley Syrah and their ultra-premium Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Cabell Coursey adds, “I’m excited to replant the winery’s estate vineyards, and look forward to redesigning the winery and creating a world class facility. The new winery will enhance our ability to craft wines with integrity from some of the most exceptional vineyard sites in Sonoma County.”

ABOUT FLANAGAN WINES

Founded in 2001, Flanagan Wines has grown from a niche producer of Bennett Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah into a winery crafting world class wines from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma County.

In 2011, the winery acquired the “Three Starrs” vineyard, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Beginning with the 2014 Vintage, the winery started sourcing fruit from several top Sonoma County vineyards including Ritchie, Bacigalupi, Sunchase, and Sonoma Stage.

In August 2015, Eric Flanagan’s investment fund, Russian River Partners, acquired the iconic Sonoma Coast Platt Ranch.  The ranch has 300+ acres of Redwood and Fir covered hillsides and is home to one of the largest coastal redwood groves in the state.  The vineyard consists of 31 acres planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and is considered one of the greatest vineyards in California.  Flanagan made their first Platt Vineyard wines in the 2015 vintage. In January of 2015, Russian River Partners acquired a 27 acre Pinot Noir vineyard called “Gap’s View” in the Petaluma Gap area of the Sonoma Coast AVA.

Eric, his wife Kit, and their three daughters (Riley, Lola, and Ruby) make their home at the Three Starrs Vineyard along with their 2 dogs, 10 ducks, 4 Dwarf Nigerian goats, 2 geese, 1 donkey, 1 mule (also named Ruby) and 2 cats.
