McGah Family Cellars Releases New Vintages of Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon and 1070 Green Sauvignon Blanc

Oakland Raiders’ Founders Endeavor to Build a Winemaking Legacy with Premium Napa Valley Wines

McGah Family Cellars Releases New Vintages of Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon and 1070 Green Sauvignon BlancMcGah Family Cellars is pleased to announce the newest vintages of its estate wines, the 2011 Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2012 1070 Green Sauvignon Blanc. The McGah family is most notably known for founding the Oakland Raiders in the 1960s and maintained ownership of the team until 2005. While the family is known for creating a sports legacy, they also have a deep passion for winemaking. The McGah Family Vineyards in Rutherford have been passed down from generation to generation, producing premium fruit for McGah Family Cellars and other Napa wineries. With these new releases, winemaker Mike Smith has created exciting wines with exceptional consistency and quality.

McGah Family Cellars Releases New Vintages of Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon and 1070 Green Sauvignon BlancThe 2011 Scarlett was produced from 100% Single Vineyard Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon. A long growing season and impeccable farming produced perfectly ripened fruit boasting a dark crimson color. The fruit was cold soaked for five days, fermented for 18 days and barrel aged for 20 months in New French Oak consisting of Taransaud, Ermitage, Marcel Cadet and Remond. Aromas of currants, spice and a signature loamy Rutherford profile wrap up into an amazing mid palate. Medium to full-bodied, the finish shows great concentration and delineation along with perfectly integrated tannins. Scarlett will age beautifully with its peak drinking window in five to seven years.

The 1070 Green Sauvignon Blanc comprises 92% Estate Grown Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Estate Grown Semillon. The fruit was 80% barrel fermented (8% New French Oak) and 20% stainless steel aged on lees for six months with no battonage. 1070 Green is translucent lemon in appearance with aromas of Clementine, Jasmine, Lanolin and a minerality that brings crushed river rock to mind. The palate is medium to full-bodied, complemented by a nice creamy texture mixed with balanced acidity. Citrus notes ranging from Meyer lemon and ripe Mexican limes combine with the above notes, flowing into a finish that begs for a food pairing.

McGah Family Cellars Releases New Vintages of Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon and 1070 Green Sauvignon BlancScarlett retails for $60.00, and the 2012 1070 Green retails for $25.00. For more information or to purchase, please visit McGah Family Cellars’ web site at www.mcgcellars.com.
